A lot of people love exercising without even knowing it and they will never find out if they hold on to the belief that exercise is boring and painful.
This belief usually stems from the magic pill society where companies like tv shop promote their products as a quick fix and simultaneously tell you to stay away from all the other "painful" and "boring" exercising methods. You hear this so much that you actually start believing it and the power of believe and placebo is very strong.
Till this day it still amazes me when I see someone who just started training lifting 5-10% of what they can lift while clenching their teeth together and looking as if they are going through the worst torture in their life, then when I tell them to put more weight on and that the lift they are lifting is usually lifted by 10-12 year old kids they suddenly become terminators and the exercise is "no longer painful".
It is almost as if we have a belief that exercise has to be painful in order to be effective and this belief is of course fueled by mantras like "no pain no gain" and so on.
I am not saying that exercise will always be a walk in the park as you will inevitably have to push yourself in order to maximize your results. What I am saying however is that mindset has a lot to say in this matter. Start accepting the "pain" as a tingling sensation that tells your muscles to grow and you will immediately see a change in the amount of reps you can perform.
Start changing your beliefs to seeing yourself as a marine who can endure anything and basically thrives of the pain he receives in the gym. Start pumping yourself up before hitting the gym and think about all the benefits a nice workout will give you.
Last but not least you want to totally remove any victim mentality that exists. Don't look like you are about to fall over and die when you are lifting weights, instead look strong and aggressive, look like you have a fight with the weights, a fight that you are going to win no matter what.
Try to change your mentality and beliefs about training in the above mentioned ways and you will immediately see more motivation and a lot better results in the gym.
